Mason Greenwood led Marseille to another Champions League win
Mason Greenwood has been backed by several former Manchester United colleagues after his latest Champions League heroics with Marseille. The 24-year-old claimed the Player of the Match accolade against Union Saint-Gilloise on Tuesday evening, netting twice in their thrilling 3-2 victory.
The striker found the net on both sides of the interval, bringing his tally to three goals across six appearances. The triumph propelled Marseille to nine points from six fixtures, positioning them 16th in the standings.
Get Football News France handed Greenwood an eight in their match ratings, noting: "The Englishman looked more like his usual self, and picked up where he left off against Lille with a little more energy.
"He found pockets of space in the first period inside the box, and knew when to drive at Christian Burgess and Kevin Mac Allister.
"It was his driving run and finish before the end of the first half which put OM ahead, before he utilised that deadly pace and dribbling ability again in the second half.
"After being played-in by [Matt] O'Riley the Englishman broke down the right, drove inside and finished past the left post of Kjell Scherpen."

His outstanding performance arrives mere days after boss Roberto De Zerbi challenged him to raise his standards following their loss to Lille.
"We were passive from the first minute to the last. One shot on target for a player like Greenwood isn't enough for him," he declared. "Shooting so infrequently isn't sufficient."
Following the match, Greenwood took to Instagram to share a snap of himself clutching the accolade, posting it without any accompanying words.
The post sparked reactions from several former United stars, with Anthony Elanga leading the charge by commenting: "Keep it steppin!!" Whilst Teden Mengi chimed in with: "Yes sir!"
Current Red Devils players Diogo Dalot, Joe Hugill and Ethan Wheatley showed their support by liking the post, alongside former United full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
Greenwood departed United last summer in a permanent transfer after spending 17 years at Old Trafford, making the switch to French side Marseille.
United confirmed they received £26.6 million (€31.6m) for the sale and cleverly inserted a sell-on clause to guarantee a substantial portion of any future move.
