What Alejandro Garnacho said about Man Utd sparks powerful Rio Ferdinand reaction to Chelsea ace’s admission

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has now offered his two cents on Alejandro Garnacho’s admission about his exit from Old Trafford and his move to Chelsea.

Alejandro Garnacho was offloaded from the Red Devils back in the summer after the 21-year-old Spain-born attacker’s relationship with Ruben Amorim was fractured.

The former Manchester United winger fell out of favour with Ruben Amorim after he spoke out about being dropped from the starting XI for the Europa League final.

Amorim told Garnacho exactly how he felt about his shock post-match remarks and the Argentina international was deemed surplus to requirements at Old Trafford.

A United youth academy product, Garnacho ultimately left the Premier League club back in August and he completed a stunning £40m transfer to Chelsea.

Speaking at Chelsea’s pre-match press conference, the Argentina winger insisted that the Blues were the “right club” for him and the move was “an easy decision.”

Rio Ferdinand has now suggested that he can understand Garnacho’s sentiments about United after comparing it with his own experience as an England player.

“Can we just forward to Garnacho? Because we got him on air,” he said on Rio Ferdinand Presents.

“Garnacho, he’s interviewed the other day. It was in the press conference, wasn’t it?

“And he said that it was an easy decision to leave United, the manager trusts me here.

“And there will be fans at Man United who go, ‘You cheeky little, you’re…’

“But as a footballer, take your Man United hat off. If you feel the manager don’t trust you, I’ve been there with England.

“At the beginning, I didn’t know if [Fabio] Capello trusts me. You ain’t getting my best performances. Do you know what I mean?

“No, Steve McLaren fully trusted me to… And I don’t know if they did or not, but I got a feeling. So, once you feel that feeling, I can’t get away from England.”

Rio Ferdinand’s feelings on Alejandro Garnacho leaving Man Utd and completing his move to Chelsea

Garnacho inked a deal with Chelsea until 2032 and the former United talent has made 15 appearances across all competitions for the Blues in his debut season.

United legend Ferdinand said that he could see why Garnacho decided to quit the Red Devils after his relationship with Ruben Amorim splintered last season.

“I can’t change and go and play for Scotland, Ireland, Wales or wherever,” he continued.

“I’m staying with England because you can’t change that badge.”

Ferdinand added: “But at club level, I’m certain if the manager don’t trust me, I’m certain that I’m sitting there going, ‘Well, we both shouldn’t really be around each other because it’s going to blow up and you’re not going to get best out of me and you’re not obviously getting what you want.’

“So, you’ve got to go and Garnacho has made a decision that was best for him. And I think sometimes you’ve got to do that as well.”

Garnacho has scored twice and registered two assists for Chelsea since the former United player completed his stunning summer move to Stamford Bridge.
