Man United manager Ruben Amorim should start playing one of his midfielders as a striker over the next month.
The Red Devils just beat Wolves 4-1 to boost their chances of qualifying for the Champions League, as they now sit sixth in the Premier League table. It was a dominant display from Ruben Amorim‘s side, who will be going into their next game against Bournemouth full of hope.
During the Wolves game, Man United’s goals came from Bruno Fernandes (2), Bryan Mbeumo, and Mason Mount. The latter was playing up front, despite the fact that he is a midfielder, due to Benjamin Sesko’s injury, and the fact that Joshua Zirkzee hasn’t been a consistent performer.

After the game, Amorim praised Mount. He told Manchester United’s official website: “He can defend, he can attack, [he shows] real quality that when he touches the ball, it is really good.
“It’s a guy that leads by the example. It doesn’t matter of the situation, Mason Mount is always the same thing, training, talking, dealing with people around Carrington. That is not easy. So he is a very, very good player.”
A Man United forward option who fits Amorim’s system perfectly
Since his move from Chelsea, Mount has always played well in a Man United shirt. The biggest issue that he’s had is staying fit. However, this season, he seems to be a lot better in terms of injuries, so Amorim should start using him more.
Many United fans may remember, but the manager was very praising of Mount when he first joined the club, as he believed that he was the type of player who would perfectly fit into his system.
Based on his performance against Wolves, Mount could really become a star for Amorim when featuring as a false nine. He doesn’t only have a scoring ability himself, but he is able to drop back into the attacking midfield position, and allow the likes of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo the chance to attack the channels. It could be a real ‘unlocker’ for Amorim’s attack, and something he should consider moving forward.
