Thomas Tuchel is not expected to name Mason Mount in his England squad for the World Cup with Ruben Amorim's action plan to get him to the United States failing. The Manchester United ace has had a challenging few years due to injuries, but his recent performances have been commendable.

Mount has scored twice in his last three games and was superb in the 4-1 victory against Wolves this past Monday, earning him the title of player of the match. Just days before that, England learned their World Cup group stage opponents, with Tuchel's team set to face Croatia, Ghana, and Panama.

Several positions in his squad are up for grabs, with the fiercest competition likely to be among the forwards. Mount is among those hoping to secure a spot, although it appears that Tuchel may not favour him for one key reason.

The Daily Mail reports that the contrasting styles of Amorim and the Three Lions' head coach poses a problem in the latter's mind, with discussions between the two camps suggesting that a call-up for Mount is 'highly unlikely'. It's further suggested that regardless of his continued good form, Tuchel is not expected to consider Mount.

Back in November, The Sun reported that the Manchester United head coach had a 'special plan' for the coming months, viewing Mount as England's most underrated player. At the time, it was also claimed that Mount is seen by Amorim as a 'super talent'.

That view that was fully validated in his standout performance against Wolves earlier this week, arguably his best showing for United yet.

More game time being awarded to the former Chelsea star was part of Amorim's action plan with that proven by the 84 minutes he was given against Wolves after a start and goal at Crystal Palace the previous week.

Prior to that, he came on at half-time in United's dismal 1-0 defeat to 10-man Everton. Tuchel was in attendance for that fixture and was captured in discussions with his former player in the tunnel after the game in a warm exchange.

Though Amorim believes there's 'no other' England player who can offer what Mount can, Tuchel has seemingly not seen enough to consider him for selection.

With that in mind, Amorim's strategy looks set to backfire, with Mount expected to be overlooked once again, having last represented his country at the 2022 World Cup.

Even though Amorim may be up against it in his tussle with Tuchel, more game time for Mount seems highly likely, given the Portuguese manager's admiration for his display at Molineux.

Amorim stated: "He can defend, he can attack, the quality when he touches the ball is really good, so it's not a surprise for me.

"He's a different type of leader. It's not like Licha [Lisandro Martínez], for example. It's a guy that leads by the example.

"It doesn't matter the situation, Mason Mount is always the same thing -- training, talking, dealing with people around Carrington. That is not easy, so he's a very, very good player."

Bruno Fernandes (x2) and Bryan Mbeumo also found the net in the victory, propelling United up to sixth place thanks to those crucial three points.

United's forthcoming match is against Bournemouth at Old Trafford before journey to Aston Villa. Following Christmas, United host Newcastle United and Wolves.
