Thomas Tuchel is unlikely to include Mason Mount, or his Manchester United team-mates, in his England squad for the World Cup, with Ruben Amorim's strategy to get the attacking midfielder to the United States seemingly falling short.

The Manchester United star has had a tough few years due to injuries, but his recent performances have been praiseworthy. Mount has netted twice in his last three matches and was outstanding in the 4-1 triumph over Wolves this past Monday, earning him the man of the match accolade.

Just days prior, England discovered their World Cup group stage opponents, with Tuchel's team set to take on Croatia, Ghana, and Panama. Several spots in his squad are still up for grabs, with the most intense competition likely among the forwards. Mount is among those vying for a place, although it seems that Tuchel may not favour him for one key reason.

The Daily Mail suggests that the differing styles of Amorim and the Three Lions' head coach pose a problem in the latter's mind, with talks between the two camps indicating that a call-up for Mount is 'highly unlikely'. It's further implied that despite his continued good form, Tuchel is not expected to consider Mount.

In November, The Sun reported that the Manchester United head coach had a 'special plan' for the coming months, viewing Mount as England's most underrated player. At the time, it was also suggested that Mount is seen by Amorim as a 'super talent'

That perspective was completely vindicated by his outstanding display against Wolves earlier this week, arguably his finest performance in a United shirt to date.

Increased playing time for the former Chelsea ace was central to Amorim's strategy, evidenced by the 84 minutes he was handed against Wolves following a start and goal at Crystal Palace the week before.

Before that, he entered the fray at half-time during United's woeful 1-0 loss to 10-man Everton. Tuchel was present for that match and was spotted having a chat with his former player in the tunnel afterwards.

While Amorim insists there's 'no other' England player who can provide what Mount offers, Tuchel appears unconvinced and hasn't seen enough to warrant his inclusion.

Given this situation, Amorim's approach seems destined to fail, with Mount likely to be snubbed once more, having last pulled on an England shirt at the 2022 World Cup.
