Ruben Amorim will surely be delighted by Mason Mount's Manchester United resurgence after a troublesome start to his Old Trafford career. The midfielder has been in hot goal-scoring form with two goals in his last three games with United rising to sixth in the Premier League following their 4-1 win against Wolves.

Amorim was full of praise for the Englishman after his performance at the Molineux, saying: "He can defend, he can attack, is really the quality that when he touched the ball is really good. So it's not a surprise for me, but of course, we need to take care of him."

£60m man Mount sends message

It's been quite the career resurgence for Mason Mount after an injury-plagued first two seasons at Old Trafford. The ex-Chelsea star, who cost United £60m in the summer of 2023, had made just 31 league appearances for the Red Devils prior to the 2025/26 campaign.

But Mount has sent a clear message to his boss that he is over the hump when it comes to injuries and ready to be a regular starter as he finds a way to start paying back his price tag.

The 26-year-old is once again adding goals to his game, having found the net three times in his last four league starts.

Most recently netting in United's 4-1 rout of Wolves on Monday, Mount's growing importance to the team spells for surprising reading. In the seven league games he's started this season, United have won five of them while drawing and losing one each.

Compared to the six games where he was used as a substitute, United won just two, drawn three and lost one. United are earning 2.3 points per game when Mount starts which would see the club hypothetically top of the table with 34 points if he had started all 15 matches.

Summer friendly negotiations

A repeat of Manchester United's 2023 pre-season clash against Wrexham could be on the cards for next summer. According to Mail Sport, the two clubs have had discussions about a potential match in Europe.

Should an agreement on the friendly come to fruition, it is expected to take place to be in Scandinavia due to the mass popularity both clubs have in that region. Nothing has yet to be confirmed due to the clubs having to navigate their pre-season schedules around the World Cup next year which is being hosted in North America.

Their first clash was a feisty one which Wrexham ran out 3-1 winners against what was a youthful United side. Dan Gore was sent off in the second half while Paul Mullin suffered a punctured lung and broken ribs following a challenge from goalkeeper Nathan Bishop who issued an apology to the striker after the game.
