National press claim Man Utd plotting move to sign one of the biggest talents in Ecuador

Manchester United are eyeing up transfers for 2026, and among the targets is Ecuador wonderkid Ederson Castillo.

The 2026 transfer plan for Manchester United looks pretty simple: to overhaul the midfield position, and this will be done both through first-team starters and wonderkid talents.

United have agreed to sign Cristian Orozco from Fortaleza, with the Colombian wonderkid seen as a top-tier talent for the future.

Due to this and the emergence of Jim Thwaites, United turned down the chance to sign Mouhamed Dabo, but now another young midfielder is being chased in the form of Ederson Castillo.

But who is the teenager, and what is the latest on his future?

Ecuador is the newest hotspot for talent in South America, with several wonderkids signing for Europe’s elite over the past few months.

Castillo turned 17 earlier this month and so will not actually be able to join his chosen club until January 2027, when he will be 18.

The talented 17-year-old played his first senior game for Liga de Quito when he was 15 and has since made four further appearances.
