However, United’s 4-1 scoreline against Wolves was not entirely reflective of their overall performance, with the Red Devils underwhelming in the first part.

Bruno Fernandes had fired United into a first-half lead at the Molineux, only for the Red Devils to blow their advantage against Wolves ahead of the half-time whistle.

Wolves rallied back in first-half injury time after Jean-Ricner Bellegarde turned an equaliser past Senne Lammens and cancelled out Bruno Fernandes’ opener.

Wes Brown has admitted that he finally felt that United ‘came into their own’ during the second-half performance against relegation-threatened Wolves on Monday.

“There was some really good play,” he told the Inside Carrington podcast, as per Manchester United’s official website.

“Don’t get me wrong, we were playing against Wolves, who are bottom [of the Premier League] and have not won all season, but it was a chance for us to show what we can do.

“In parts of the first half, the passing was very good, but in the second half we came into our own and I just hope that takes us forward into the Christmas period.”

“It pushes us up the league massively, into sixth, and anything can happen from here,” he added.

“If we can carry on performing like they did, you never know where we might be at the end of December. It’s exciting.”

United now return to Old Trafford on Monday evening next week and the Red Devils will face Bournemouth in their Premier League clash at 8pm UK time.
