The latest Man Utd transfer news and gossip ahead of the January window.

The agent of Manchester United defender Diego Leon is still unsure if the teenager will be allowed to leave the club on loan in the January transfer window.

United paid Paraguayan club Cerro Porteño an initial fee of around £3.2m, with add-ons that could eventually see it rise to as much as £7m, to sign the left-back during the summer. An agreement for Leon was actually agreed at the start of the year, but he was only able to move to Manchester once he had turned 18.

Leon has made six appearances for United at youth level since he joined in the summer and has yet to make his competitive debut for the club. He was named on the bench for Premier League matches against Man City, Brentford and Sunderland as well as the Carabao Cup defeat to Grimsby Town.

Diego Leon could leave on loan

Manchester United always planned to oversee Diego Leon's initial development once he signed for the club before a decision was made next year on his immediate future.

The Paraguay international clearly has a lot of talent but is still an extremely raw player and has work to do before he can be unleashed in the United first-team. He could get some more senior experience over the coming month, while Noussair Mazraoui, Amad Diallo and Bryan Mbeumo are away at the Africa Cup of Nations, and is one of the few options Ruben Amorim has to cover at wing-back.

United have also considered a potential loan exit in the January window, though they are yet to make a final decision on whether he will be allowed to leave. Speaking this week, the player's agent, Renato Bittar, spoke about his transfer situation and links with a move to OGC Nice.

"They did a 'One with arrow', about his move to Nice, the truth is that he is living exactly what we planned," Bittar said in quotes translated from Spanish. "We are not clear if he will go out on loan now, it wouldn't be good to cut his season short. He is evolving, adding minutes in the Under-21 and that is positive."
