Chelsea have signed a 16-year-old wonderkid who was also linked with Man United and Manchester City.
Heading into January, Chelsea will be looking to add more quality to Enzo Maresca’s squad, with the hope that the Blues’ manager can help them to another top-four finish and a decent Champions League campaign.
Behind the scenes, Chelsea will be in negotiations and scouting the players they want to sign in January, but it seems that they have already made moves, as Fabrizio Romano confirmed they have already signed someone this winter.

In recent seasons, Chelsea’s youngster signings have been excellent, as we have seen with Estevao, who has the potential to become a world-class star. They will hope they’ve signed the next one, as Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the Blues have agreed a deal to sign 16-year-old Muhammad Zongo.

It seems he will join French side Strasbourg, who Chelsea are using to help get some of their youngsters more minutes at the top level. The Daily Mail reports that both Man United and Man City wanted to sign Zongo too, but Chelsea were able to get the deal done, which could prove to be an excellent piece of business from BlueCo and Chelsea’s scouting department.
Zongo could become a world-class talent
The 16-year-old midfielder likes to play a similar role to Cole Palmer, as he can play as a creative outlet both in the middle and as a winger. He has also risen in the ranks for the Burkina Faso national team, featuring regularly for the U17s team in recent months.
He has been playing for a club in Burkina Faso, Sporting Cascades, who are third in their league after 11 games in the league season, with five wins, five draws and a defeat so far this season.
He’s scored four goals in seven games for Burkina Faso’s U17s, including goals against Germany, and Czech Republic, both of which the African side were able to win in two upset victories.
The 2009-born midfielder is very much an athlete, as he is quick and skilful on the ball, but he’s also tall and physical, standing at six feet at the age of just 16. He could become a future star for Chelsea, and could become one of the next African stars to come through Chelsea’s academy system.
