Manchester United have a very talented squad right now, but Gary Lineker has a few players in mind who should still be at the club.
Over the past few years, Manchester United have seen many players leave the club before going on to be a lot more successful elsewhere.
There are numerous options to select from when picking the biggest regrets United will have had recently, with Alvaro Fernandez a major Ineos mishap.
The Spaniard was sold for peanuts in 2024 before joining Real Madrid this past summer for £43m. Fernandez would be a straight starter right now for United, making it surely a regret that he wasn’t given a chance.
Now, Gary Lineker has named three more United must regret.

Gary Lineker says three Manchester United players are shining after leaving
Alvaro Fernandez’s exit will be one United will rue, but the same can be said for Scott McTominay and Rasmus Hojlund, alongside Antony.

“United have, I mean, I think it’s a club in a bit of turmoil, in a mess because you can judge that by the players that are leaving.
“They all seem to pretty much all of them have done really well. Antony, Hojlund has started scoring. Yeah. I mean, so many, McTominay, brilliant.”
Lineker has spoken honestly about these three, and United will absolutely agree, especially over McTominay, but Ruben Amorim already answered similar debates before.
Ruben Amorim said it best Manchester United cannot look back
While a lot of fingers are pointed toward the success McTominay and Antony, for example, have had after looking so lost at United, but Amorim suggested last season that the players were the issue.
Is Ruben Amorim right to suggest former Man United players can’t handle the pressure? Or is the club the issue?
He made it pretty clear he isn't impressed by former United players…😳

Amorim suggested the pressure might just be too much for certain players, with United being one of the biggest clubs in world football and therefore the most eyeballs.
This is spot on from Amorim, and United cannot look back at stories of failures and instead must look to the future.
However, unlike other examples, letting Kobbie Mainoo go would be a big mistake, as he has proven he is more than capable of representing the biggest club in football.
