Manchester United have been connected with numerous transfers ahead of the January window. The club will be devising strategies to bolster their squad as Ruben Amorim's side chase a Champions League place.
United can reinforce their top four aspirations with a home victory against Bournemouth on Monday night. Amorim's team have suffered defeat in just one of their previous nine matches, following their 4-1 triumph at Wolves.
United's improved form makes the club an increasingly appealing destination for prospective signings next month, though Kobbie Mainoo is one player who has been linked with leaving Old Trafford. Here, MEN Sport examines some of the biggest stories surrounding United.
Napoli chief responds to Kobbie Mainoo rumours
Kobbie Mainoo has been consistently linked with a move to Napoli due to his limited playing time at United. The 20-year-old midfielder had a loan request turned down during the summer but has failed to start a league match this season.
Napoli have Mainoo's former colleague Scott McTominay and current United loanee Rasmus Hojlund in their ranks. The Italian club's sporting director Giovanni Manna has addressed rumours that Mainoo could be the next player to arrive from Old Trafford as Napoli contend with an injury crisis.
"He is a player who has been linked to Napoli since August, also for his age, his potential, and the transfer opportunity," Manna told Sky Sport Italia. "This team is doing well, it is consolidated.

"We have some important absences right now, but sooner or later the lads will return, strong and determined. We have to make the right evaluations, so we'll see how things progress along the way."
Midfielders Billy Gilmour, Stanislav Lobotka, Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa and Kevin De Bruyne were all unavailable for Napoli's Champions League encounter with Benfica on Wednesday. Antonio Conte's team endured a 2-0 loss, with McTominay facing criticism for his display.
Man United secure financial boost
Manchester United have revealed a £13.3million operating profit in their first quarter financial results. The previous year saw the club record a £6.9m deficit over the same period.
This financial turnaround stems from reduced costs, following Sir Jim Ratcliffe's financial review after acquiring a minority stake in 2024. United were discovered to have the largest number of employees among Premier League clubs, which resulted in widespread job cuts to lower expenses. The most recent figures demonstrate United's total revenue reached £140.3m, despite missing out on European competition this campaign.

United CEO Omar Berrada said: "These robust financial results reflect the resilience of Manchester United as we make strong progress in our transformation of the club.
"The difficult decisions we have made in the past year have resulted in a sustainably lower cost base and a more streamlined, effective organisation equipped to drive the club towards improved sporting and commercial performance over the long-term.
"That has helped us to invest in our men's and women's teams, sitting in sixth and third places in the Premier League and women's Super League respectively."
