Manchester United have been expanding their list of midfield targets ahead of 2026, with multiple Premier League players emerging on the radar.
It has been a long time since Manchester United fans were happy with the team’s midfield.
United didn’t sign a midfielder in the summer, despite losing Christian Eriksen at the end of his contract. That means Ruben Amorim has fewer options in midfield this season after settling on a pivot consisting of Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro.
Amorim has controversially overlooked Kobbie Mainoo in the process. The 20-year-old has been limited to just 183 minutes in the Premier League this season and has yet to start a game.
Meanwhile, Manuel Ugarte hasn’t got any closer to the line-up. The Uruguay international could be playing his final season at Old Trafford unless there’s a significant improvement.

Man Utd eye swoop for Sunderland ace Noah Sadiki
It’s no secret that United are in the market for midfielders.
United failed to sign Carlos Baleba from Brighton in the summer, but they’ve since been linked with moves for Adam Wharton and Elliot Anderson.
According to Sky Sports Switzerland journalist Sacha Tavolieri, United are keeping a close eye on Sunderland midfielder Noah Sadiki.

Sadiki has started in every Premier League game for Sunderland this season, but there are suggestions that he is already attracting attention from top clubs in the league.
