Ruben Amorim has a decision to make regarding one Manchester United star's future

Manchester United are eyeing several deals in the run-up to the January transfer window.

As Ruben Amorim's squad vies for European football next season, plans are being drawn up to bolster their ranks. A home victory over Bournemouth on Monday night could solidify the Red Devils' ambitions of returning to continental competition. United have tasted defeat just once in their last nine matches, coming off a 4-1 triumph at Wolves.

United's upswing in form makes them an increasingly appealing prospect for potential recruits next month. However, Kobbie Mainoo is one player rumoured to be on his way out of Old Trafford. Here's all the latest headlines from Old Trafford.

Kobbie Mainoo has been persistently linked with a move to Napoli due to his limited playing time at United. The 20-year-old midfielder had a loan request turned down in the summer and has yet to start a league match this season.

Napoli already have Mainoo's former team-mate Scott McTominay and current United loanee Rasmus Hojlund in their ranks, meaning Amorim must consider whether he is willing to let another star depart for Naples.

The Italian club's sporting director Giovanni Manna has addressed rumours that Mainoo could be the next addition from Old Trafford as Napoli grapple with an injury crisis, reports the Mirror.

Manna told Sky Sport Italia: "He is a player who has been linked to Napoli since August, also for his age, his potential, and the transfer opportunity. This team is doing well, it is consolidated.

"We have some important absences right now, but sooner or later the lads will return, strong and determined. We have to make the right evaluations, so we'll see how things progress along the way."

Midfielders Billy Gilmour, Stanislav Lobotka, Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa and Kevin De Bruyne were all unavailable for Napoli's Champions League encounter with Benfica on Wednesday. Antonio Conte's team endured a 2-0 loss, with McTominay facing criticism for his display.

Manchester United have revealed a £13.3million operating profit in their first quarter financial results. Last year, the club had accumulated a £6.9m deficit over the same timeframe.

The financial turnaround stems from reduced expenditure, following billionaire co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe's financial assessment after acquiring a minority shareholding in 2024.

United were discovered to have the largest workforce across the Premier League, which prompted widespread and controversial job cuts to slash costs.

The recent figures reveal United's total revenue reached £140.3m, despite missing out on European competition this season. United CEO Omar Berrada said: "These robust financial results reflect the resilience of Manchester United as we make strong progress in our transformation of the club.

"The difficult decisions we have made in the past year have resulted in a sustainably lower cost base and a more streamlined, effective organisation equipped to drive the club towards improved sporting and commercial performance over the long-term.

"That has helped us to invest in our men's and women's teams, sitting in sixth and third places in the Premier League and women's Super League respectively."
