Manchester United have confirmed the date for their clash against Brighton in the FA Cup third round. United will welcome Brighton on Sunday, January 11, as they begin their campaign in the competition. The game has been selected to be shown on television by TNT Sports.
United play Burnley in the Premier League four days before facing Brighton in England's oldest cup competition. United are sixth in the Premier League and have lost just once since the end of September. The internal target for the season was Europe, and the Reds are on course to achieve that aim.
However, there have been bumps along the way for Ruben Amorim, including a shocking exit from the Carabao Cup second round against Grimsby Town in August. Amorim will be hopeful of guiding United into the latter stages of the FA Cup to atone for the early Carabao Cup exit.
United were defeated by Fulham in the fifth round of the FA Cup last season, while Brighton made it a stage further into the quarter-finals, in which they were beaten by Nottingham Forest. The FA Cup was the last trophy won by United. Erik ten Hag oversaw a stunning victory against Manchester City at Wembley in 2024, winning the second trophy of his tenure.
A week after facing Brighton in the FA Cup third round, United will welcome Manchester City to Old Trafford.
