Old Trafford 170925

Manchester United's Old Trafford will become home to a university campus.

University Academy 92 (UA92), the higher education institution founded by former United captain Gary Neville and fellow members of the 'Class of 92', will take over space within the stadium for lectures.Starting in January, several suites within the Sir Bobby Charlton Stand will be turned into teaching spaces for students.

The institution, set up by Gary Neville, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Phil Neville, and Nicky Butt in association with Lancaster University, opened its doors in 2019.

UA92 currently operates out of campuses in Manchester city centre and next to the Old Trafford cricket ground.

Co-founder Gary Neville called the move a "full circle moment," stating: “Manchester United is where my dreams started and now we have the privilege of helping the next generation achieve theirs.”

He added that “bringing our students into this environment connects everything we stand for,” and that Old Trafford, a place where young people "dream big," will now also be a place where students can “learn, grow and build their futures”.

Manchester United's chief business officer, Marc Armstrong, said the club is "really looking forward to opening the doors of Old Trafford to students from UA92."

He noted that Manchester United has always been "synonymous with youth, drive and determination, epitomised by the Class of 92.”
