Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris says just because Premier League giants Manchester United and Chelsea have shown an interest in Noah Sadiki does not mean the midfielder will leave the Stadium of Light.

The DR Congo international has been one of the standout performers for the Black Cats since his move to the club from Union Saint-Gilloise in the summer.

The Wearsiders agreed a fee of £15million to sign the 20-year-old midfielder, who has drawn comparisons to Ngolo Kante for his style of play since arriving in the top flight.

Sadiki has formed an impressive partnership in the heart of Sunderland's midfield alongside Granit Xhaka and has been integral to their bright start to the season.

The midfielder has been an ever-present in Le Bris' midfield engine room, and it's no surprise his performances have caught the eye of other Premier League clubs.

A report this week from Sky Sport Switzerland, claims both Chelsea and Man United have made an approach to sign Sadiki ahead of the January transfer window, just five months after arriving on Wearside.

The report claims Chelsea made immediate contact with Sunderland after the Black Cats win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in October.

While, Manchester United reportedly made contact with Sadiki's representatives at the start of the season.

However, Le Bris played down any talk of a departure, insisting the speculation is testament to the work his team have put in this season.

The Sunderland boss said: "It's positive for us. It doesn't mean Noah will leave. He's a good player, a strong player for Sunderland.

"It means we're doing well with young players and more experienced players as well. That's the market."

Sunderland pipped Leeds United to Sadiki's signature this summer and he has made 15 appearances in the Premier League this season.

He's is in line to add to his tally against Newcastle United in the derby this weekend.

The energetic midfielder has picked up four yellow cards so far this season and there was concern he'd miss the derby through suspsension, but avoided the all important fifth booking last time out in the defeat to Man City.
