Manchester United‘planning to offer improved contract’to exciting star after brilliant start to 2025/26

Manchester United are planning to offer an improved contract to one of their most exciting talents after his strong start to the season.

Manchester United have had a mixed Premier League campaign so far, like many others, but still sit within six points of Manchester City in second place.

Ruben Amorim’s side have delivered some impressive wins, such as against Liverpool or Crystal Palace, but they have also dropped points when they shouldn’t have like at Old Trafford against 10-men Everton.

One of the biggest criticisms of Amorim at the moment is the lack of involvement of youth in the first-team squad. Kobbie Mainoo is yet to start a game in the league this term while Shea Lacey is the only other academy star involved in the squad.

Harry Amass was pushing for a first-team spot in the back-end of last season but he was sent out on loan to Sheffield Wednesday in the summer. He has been one of the Championship side’s best players so far this term.

Amass, 18, is playing consistent football in England’s second tier and even though he is at a struggling team, the United loanee stands out almost every week.

Sheffield Wednesday will hope to keep Amass on loan for the rest of the season while United are looking to reward the teenager for his fine progression in recent months.

According to Football Insider, United are planning to offer Amass a new and improved contract at Old Trafford while they are also weighing up whether to keep him at the Hillsborough Stadium.

Amass’ current deal at Old Trafford does not expire until June 2027 but the Reds seem to be wanting to sort out his future in advance while also giving him a wage that reflects his progress.

What’s next for Amass?

Many fans were raising their eyebrows when United decided to send one of their best talents from the academy to Wednesday, considering their struggles off the pitch.

But it seems like United were justified in their decision. Amass is not only playing every week but learning how to perform despite a turbulent situation. Any player at United needs to know how to deal with that.

It will be interesting to see whether he stays at the Championship strugglers for the rest of the season or moves elsewhere. Some fans would even say that he could return to Old Trafford and play at left wingback.

That is certainly a possibility for next season but it seems like, for now, Amass is best suited to playing as much football as possible.
