Ruben Amorim has praised a ‘special’ player ahead of Manchester United’s upcoming Premier League clash with Bournemouth.

Manchester United turn their attention to an important clash against Bournemouth on Monday night as they look to climb the Premier League table.

Ruben Amorim’s side have not found major consistency so far this term, but the nature of the Premier League means they are still within touching distance of the top four.

Bournemouth have not been in top form in recent weeks, with no wins in their last six games, but have shown how dangerous they can be under Andoni Iraola.

Their standout player is Antoine Semenyo, who has been linked with an Old Trafford move and has a release clause worth £65 million in the January transfer window.

Amorim sends Wilcox transfer message about ‘special player’

Amorim recently claimed that he would like ‘another Amad’-type player as an option at left wingback and many believe that he was talking about Semenyo.

Jason Wilcox will be thinking about the prospect of going for the Bournemouth star and Amorim once again seemed to provide unprompted praise for the 25-year-old this week.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, the United boss was asked about the upcoming opponent. “I think it is a top team, a top manager, with a special player,” Amorim smiled.

The ‘special’ player in question is obviously Semenyo, and it seems like Amorim would love to have him as an option.

Despite Bournemouth’s poor form, Amorim is expecting a tough game against a side that are ‘really direct’ in their approach.

“I don’t look to the results, I look at the way they face every opponent. They press really strong, they are really direct in the game,” he continued.

“They can play with different options in front and that gives us a lot of options to work and prepare for the game.

“I expect a Premier League game that is really tough but we need to win, especially at home, and that is the goal.”

How United would work with Semenyo

United always seem to play better when they have at least one attack-minded wingback, and that is almost always Amad on the right.

Diogo Dalot or Patrick Dorgu usually operate from the left and we are used to seeing one of them get on the end of a dangerous chance, and usually falter in front of goal. Semenyo would thrive in those positions.

The idea of having two natural wingers on both flanks is very interesting when you are attacking but there are obvious concerns about the defensive side of the game.

Semenyo is also not the kind of player you are going to sign to only play games where United will dominate, but it is clear that Amorim would like him at the club.
