Manchester United could do some business in the January transfer window as they consider ways to improve their first-team squad under Ruben Amorim.
The Portuguese head coach was backed with £200 million in the summer and could be given additional funds to reinvest in his squad next month if required. United have prioritised a midfield refresh next year, but anticipate that their top targets will not be available until the summer.
It means United are unlikely to spend big next month, though they could take advantage of any market opportunities that arise. Amorim has already warned he does not want to sign a player just for the sake of it and only has interest to add someone with long-term value to the squad.
