Manchester United welcome Bournemouth to Old Trafford on Monday night and it will be a chance for Ruben Amorim to prove Andoni Iraola right.

Bournemouth have been a bit of a bogeyteam for Manchester United over the past couple of years, with back to back home defeats to the Cherries.

However, Ruben Amorim did score a pre-season victory over Bournemouth back in July as United thrashed the Cherries 4-1 over in the USA.

United’s win came in impressive fashion, playing Andoni Iraola’s team off the pitch with a high press and direct counter attacks making Bournemouth look terrible.

This gave confidence which quickly disappeared at United, however, things are gradually getting better and a win over Bournemouth would be huge.

“We are very far right now from United, I think United are a hell of a team and they have signed also very well.

“Today we saw they are more fast in this moment, that is what counts. We still have time to prepare, we are not as good as we looked the other day and not as bad as we looked today, we are somewhere in the middle.”

To label Amorim’s United a ‘hell of a team’ in the summer might have been naive, but slowly the Red Devils are improving.

This season, United have been better than Bournemouth and they can hammer home this point on Monday night.

Ruben Amorim would love to repeat this result and absolutely can

This coming Monday, United are once again playing last in the game-week and it really is an incredible opportunity for the Red Devils to get a consecutive win to bring momentum into the clash with Aston Villa.

Despite the improvements this season, Amorim will know how fragile this current comfort zone at United is.

Bournemouth are in terrible form and the easiest of the next three games for United, meaning victory is needed and Amorim already has the blueprint.

Amorim’s quick and direct counter-attacking football could expose Iraola’s side which has been struggling lately and United can add to this.
