‘Tough…’ Alan Shearer drops telling Man Utd vs Bournemouth prediction for Premier League match at Old Trafford

Premier League legend Alan Shearer has now revealed where he stands on Manchester United and Bournemouth’s forthcoming encounter at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils were in action earlier this week and Manchester United thrashed relegation-threatened Wolves 4-1 in their Premier League clash at the Molineux.

United’s second-half performance against Wolves on Monday evening saw Bryan Mbeumo, Mason Mount and Bruno Fernandes all score for Ruben Amorim’s men.

Bruno Fernandes, who assisted Mason Mount, also made a major impact in the first half after he broke the deadlock for United against Wolves in their match.

Rob Edwards’ side thought they had a lifeline against United after Jean-Ricner Bellegarde netted for Wolves in injury time in the first half at the Molineux.

The Red Devils’ result against Wolves has seen United climb to sixth place in the Premier League table, with Ruben Amorim’s side one point outside the top four.

Speaking ahead of Monday’s Premier League match, Alan Shearer admitted that United will face a “tough” test against 13th-place Bournemouth at Old Trafford.

Do you agree with his prediction? What will the score be?

“Fortunately for Manchester United, Bournemouth are not the team they once were.

“I just think they are really struggling at the moment and this is the best time for Manchester United to face them at home.”

However, the 55-year-old former Newcastle and England striker believes that Amorim’s men will chalk up back-to-back wins in the Premier League.

“I think Man United will have enough to beat Bournemouth,” he told the Metro.

“It’ll be tough, but at home at Old Trafford, I think they can make it two wins in a row. I’ll go for a home win.”

Man Utd must send a message with their Premier League performance under Ruben Amorim against Bournemouth

A win against Bournemouth would be a major momentum boost for the Red Devils in keeping themselves in the Premier League top-four race in the 2025-26 campaign.

United’s form has been erratic at times this season and the Red Devils have lacked serious consistency under Amorim, but things have looked better in recent months.

The Red Devils have lost only once in their last five Premier League matches, which came in United’s shock 1-0 defeat to 10-man Everton at Old Trafford last month.

Picking up back-to-back Premier League wins is something that United manager Amorim will want ahead of the Red Devils signing off 2025 and entering 2026.
