Bryan Mbeumo sends curious Man Utd message with AFCON fate to be decided

Manchester United star Bryan Mbeumo has responded to the unusual circumstances surrounding his departure for the Africa Cup of Nations, suggesting he remains unfazed by the situation. The striker is amongst three United players, along with Amad and Noussair Mazraoui, who will depart in the coming days to represent their countries in the competition.

FIFA has established December 15 as the deadline for players to link up with their national squads. However, this date coincides with United's Premier League home fixture against Bournemouth. Uncertainty persists over whether the United trio will be available for Monday evening's match before travelling to join their respective nations, with Ruben Amorim admitting he remains in the dark.

The ambiguity doesn't appear to be affecting Mbeumo or Amad's morale, however.

On Friday evening, the Cameroon international posted a photograph taken by Amad featuring himself and Leny Yoro on his Instagram stories.

In the picture, Amad is making a comical expression whilst Yoro appears in the background.

Mbeumo tagged both team-mates and added the message: "No problem my boys" accompanied by a sunglasses emoji.

He shared a second image, this time captured by Yoro, with Amad once again pulling faces in the background.

Whilst Mbeumo and Amad will participate in the tournament, Frenchman Yoro will stay at United and aim to assist the team.

Speaking during his pre-match press conference on Friday, Amorim confirmed that uncertainty remains over the availability of Mbeumo, Amad and Mazraoui for the clash against Bournemouth.

"We are waiting until the last moment to have all the players available to choose the best team to start the game," he said. "I expect to have a decision today or maybe tomorrow.

"Every national team has their ideas about when they want the players. I don't know if it's going to be the same situation (with each player). It depends on the games.

"It's frustrating but at the same time nobody knows who is going to play. So it's a good thing, I think.

"We have players to cope with everything, and with a long week you can see a lot of things to prepare the game and any situation."

Since arriving during the summer transfer window, Mbeumo has become a crucial figure under Amorim. The 26-year-old has featured in every Premier League fixture this season, netting six times.

Amad finds himself in a comparable position, regularly featuring as a starter at right-wing-back. Mazraoui has struggled to cement his place this campaign, though he has featured in the starting XI for the previous two matches as part of the back three.
