Jason Wilcox ready to sell £100,000-a-week Man Utd star as talks held - report

Manchester United are considering the possibility of selling defender Diogo Dalot next year, journalist Graeme Bailey has claimed.

The Old Trafford side are said to be in internal discussions over the 26-year-old Portugal international’s future, with director of football Jason Wilcox eyeing a potential sale.

United have been made aware of possible interest in Dalot from 15-time Champions League winners Real Madrid, who could look to replace Dani Carvajal in 2026.

Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich are also claimed to be admirers of Dalot, who is under contract until the summer of 2028 and earns a reported £100,000 per week.

According to Bailey, Dalot’s future at United is being discussed by Wilcox and his staff ahead of the market reopening next month.

While senior figures at the club are happy with the 26-year-old’s performances this season, they are also aware that Dalot could command a pay rise in talks over a potential new deal.

Dalot’s camp have reportedly approached United about opening contract talks in 2026, and the club are said to be assessing whether they should keep the former Porto defender long term.

Dalot has been a regular under Ruben Amorim this season, making 13 appearances in the Premier League and starting on 10 occasions.

The 26-year-old has registered two goal contributions in his last two appearances, scoring in the 1-1 draw with West Ham and assisting Bryan Mbeumo’s goal in the 4-1 win over Wolves.

Although a natural right-back, Dalot has mostly covered on the left for United this term, replacing Patrick Dorgu in Amorim’s first XI.

The Denmark international has been the subject of criticism from Amorim recently, with the Portuguese manager claiming he can sense nervousness from Dorgu ‘every time he touches the ball’.

Man Utd Face Four Contract Decisions

United will have to make decisions over four first-team players whose contracts are expiring at the end of the season, with Casemiro, Harry Maguire, Tyrell Malacia and Tom Heaton facing uncertain futures at Old Trafford.

While the Red Devils are reportedly keen on extending Casemiro and Maguire’s deals on reduced wages, it remains to be seen whether a breakthrough in talks will be reached, given both players are among the best-paid in the squad.

Sitting seventh in the league after 15 games, United next host Bournemouth at Old Trafford on Monday.
