Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola has provided an injury update on his squad ahead of Monday night's game with Manchester United

The Cherries defender has been one of the south coast outfit’s best players this season - and according to WhoScored, he has been their standout best player with an average match rating of 7.15. Star forward Antoine Semenyo comes in just behind with a 7.12 average rating.

Senesi has three assists from central defence and averages just under eight clearances a game. He is a hulking presence at the back for Bournemouth but was forced off after 62 minutes last weekend as the Cherries drew 0-0 with Chelsea at the Vitality Stadium.

Giving an update on the player, Cherries manager Iraola said: "I think it’s a similar picture than we had past week. Marcos was the one that finished the game with some cramps and still is dealing with some issues there, but there is not a proper muscle injury.

"So we hope he’s available also for Monday, but we are not still sure. It’s strange because we still have three more days, so it’s difficult to know what’s going to happen, but should be very similar from past weekend."

Bournemouth will be without five players if Senesi is not passed fit for the trip to Old Trafford. Veljko Milosavljevic, Ryan Christie and Ben Gannon-Doak are all out due to injury while Lewis Cook is suspended.

Senesi has faced United five times during his career, winning just one of those meetings. He has lost two and drawn the other two.

The Cherries were unbeaten against the Red Devils last season as they won 3-0 at Old Trafford almost one year ago while they played out a 1-1 draw at the Vitality Stadium back in April.

In the previous season, Bournemouth also drew at home with United and won 3-0 at Old Trafford with United last winning against the Cherries in May 2023.

Looking ahead to the latest meeting between the sides, Bournemouth star Marcus Tavernier is hoping to make it a hat-trick of wins for the Cherries at Old Trafford.

He said: “Old Trafford is an iconic stadium, and we’ve had a good record there in recent years. It will be a tough game - they’re a great opposition, in good form with great players - but we have enough capability to go and cause them problems for sure.

"No game is easy in this league, as we know, but we go into every match with confidence. We’ve got talented players here.

"We seem to create so many memories season after season, and we want to keep that going as a team. It’s a great feeling to make club history consistently. We want to be fighting nearer the top of the table, and we want to start a good run.”
