United are scheduled to host the Cherries tomorrow, and a victory would send them within goal difference of fourth-placed Chelsea. Andoni Iraola’s side are winless in the last six league matches with just two points.
Despite this, the South Coast outfit can’t be taken lightly, given they are unbeaten in the last four meetings against United. The Cherries have won in the last two trips to Old Trafford, and United can put an end to that streak.
Bryan Mbeumo has been a revelation in his debut campaign with seven goals and an assist. Six of those involvements have come in the Premier League. He has an equally good record against Bournemouth over the years.
The Cameroon international has bagged four goals and three assists from just 10 encounters. This includes six goal contributions (four goals and two assists) in six league games, where the former Brentford man has remained unbeaten.
It is clear that he could be the main attacking threat against the Cherries, but it remains to be seen whether he will be available. FIFA have announced that players participating at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) must report with their respective nations from December 15.
United are due to play Bournemouth on the same day and are discussing with the Cameroonian football federation to find a resolution. Hopefully, the Red Devils can convince the Cameroon’s hierarchy to delay Mbeumo’s departure by 24 hours such that he can feature on Monday.
The Red Devils face a similar situation with Amad Diallo and Noussair Mazraoui.
