Man United chasing English youngster

Manchester United are back in action on Monday night when they host Bournemouth.

After a disastrous start to the season, the Red Devils have improved over the past couple of months and could move as high as fifth in the Premier League table with a win on Monday.

Ruben Amorim appears to have eased the pressure that had mounted on him following a disastrous first year in charge at Old Trafford.

United – and Amorim himself – may be benefitting from now competing in European competition this term, with the Manchester outfit having more days between games than many of their domestic rivals.

Now, it appears that United are interested in an English midfielder.

As per Spanish outlet Fichajes, via CaughtOffside, the Red Devils are keeping tabs on Borussia Dortmund’s Jobe Bellingham.

The 20-year-old – brother of England and Real Madrid star Jude – joined Dortmund from Birmingham City over the summer but hasn’t enjoyed the perfect start to life in Germany.

Bellingham has made 23 appearances across all competitions so far this term but has started just five of Dortmund’s 14 Bundesliga matches.

He has failed to score a goal for his new side so far, but did provide two assists during a 4-2 win over Danish side Copenhagen in the Champions League in October.

It is claimed that the midfielder’s future in Germany has been thrown into some doubt, and United are therefore monitoring the situation.

Bellingham – who previously spent time with Sunderland prior to joining the Blues – is under contract at Dortmund until the end of the 2029/30 campaign.

United were on the hunt for a new central midfielder over the summer, but failed to sign a number of targets including Brighton and Hove Albion’s Carlos Baleba.

It appears that their desire to add a midfielder to Amorim’s squad remains, and Bellingham appears to be on their shortlist of potential targets.
