Former Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof made his first Premier League start for Aston Villa this weekend.
Victor Lindelof was released by Manchester United in the summer after spending eight years at Old Trafford.
Following a small stint training with his boyhood club, Lindelof signed for Aston Villa in the summer, and he was later joined by Jadon Sancho, who joined on loan.

Sancho has had a slow start at Villa and is struggling to get into Unai Emery’s starting line-up. Lindelof has also started the season down the pecking order, but he made his first Premier League start this weekend as Villa beat West Ham 3-2.

Unai Emery delighted with Victor Lindelof display
Villa came from behind twice at the London Stadium to beat West Ham and stay third in the Premier League table.
Lindelof started as the left-sided centre-back in place of Pau Torres, and Unai Emery was delighted with the Sweden international’s performance.

After the full-time whistle, Emery told the media: “Fantastic. Fantastic. He showed experience.
“He was comfortable and calm in build-up. It is not easy in the build-up on the left side when he is right-footed.
“He managed the passes we needed from him to the next players. He did fantastic.”
Lindelof had a 100% success rate in aerial duels (3 out of 3), had a 90% pass completion rate and made seven defensive actions.
Victor Lindelof has more assists than Jadon Sancho
Alongside his brilliant defensive work, Lindelof also picked up an assist for the winning goal, scored by Morgan Rogers.
Lindelof made a line-breaking pass to find Rogers in space, and the England international scored the winner in brilliant fashion with a long-range strike.

Sancho remained on the bench against Villa, and it means that Lindelof now has more goal contributions than his former United teammate.
Sancho is still yet to start a Premier League match for Villa since joining on loan. He has played 127 minutes in the league, compared to Lindelof’s 115.
