'I feel': Amorim drops a strong hint at one Man United starter vs Bournemouth

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has heaped praise on Luke Shaw.

The Red Devils welcome Bournemouth to Old Trafford later today, with Shaw expected to play a central role once again.

Speaking ahead of the clash, Amorim explained why the England international is enjoying one of his most stable and injury-free campaigns in years.

He said (via ManUtd.com): “I think we changed the position. I think it helps Luke Shaw to cope with everything.

“We are taking care of his body now and now it is not a concern. I think he feels motivated. Maybe that is also something that helps Luke Shaw. That’s it.

“Sometimes it’s just one season that you feel better and you are understanding your body better. I don’t know the specific reason, but I feel that Luke Shaw is in a good moment.”

A pleasant surprise for Man Utd fans

Shaw recently made his 300th appearance for United but it took him over a decade to do so.

By comparison, club captain Bruno Fernandes reached the same figure in roughly half that time, underlining how injuries have disrupted Shaw’s journey.

There has never been any doubt about Shaw’s quality, but repeated setbacks often denied him long, consistent runs in the side.

This season, however, he has already made more league appearances than he managed in the previous two campaigns.

Honesty has always been another defining trait of Shaw’s character, setting him apart from many others.

Earlier this season, he openly admitted his display against Manchester City fell below the required standard.

He showed the same accountability after the Europa League final defeat earlier this year.

United supporters value that transparency, though they also demand visible progress on the pitch.

Encouragingly, Shaw has delivered exactly that, growing stronger with every passing game.

After 15 appearances, he looks revitalised and has made himself virtually undroppable under Amorim.

His move into the left centre-back role has proven pivotal, reducing the physical strain of constant running up and down the flank.

With Lisandro Martinez now back fit, Amorim faces an intriguing selection puzzle as he looks to accommodate two elite left-footed defenders in the same XI.
