Manchester United will aim to continue their recent good form when they host Bournemouth on Monday night.
Ruben Amorim’s side have won five of their last nine Premier League games following a disastrous start to the campaign, and could move as high as fifth with a win over the Cherries on Monday.
The Portuguese – who formerly managed Sporting CP – appears to have eased the pressure that had mounted on him after a dismal fist 12 months in charge at Old Trafford.
Now, ahead of the January transfer window, it has emerged that Amorim is keen to sign a player from his former club.
As reported by TEAMtalk, the Manchester giants are showing interest in Sporting CP full-back Maxi Araujo.
The report claims that the Red Devils hold a genuine interest in the 25-year-old, who worked under Amorim in the Portuguese capital for a few months before he departed for Manchester late in 2024.

Araujo joined Sporting from Mexican side Toluca last summer and has since made more than 60 appearances for the Portuguese side across all competitions, scoring seven goals and providing nine assists.
It is claimed that the Uruguayan’s impressive displays for Sporting have made him a target for United, with Amorim open to the idea of a reunion with the player.
Araujo is under contract at Sporting until the end of the 2028/29 campaign having signed a long-term deal when joining the club, however, which puts the Portuguese side in a commanding position during any potential negotiations.
The report claims that Amorim has told those in charge at United that he wants to add a wing-back to his squad, specifying that it should be a player with attacking capabilities, rather than a more defensive-focussed full-back.
