Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has received backlash from two of his own players after comments he made in a press conference during the build-up to the Premier League clash with Bournemouth on Monday night.
The Portuguese boss has been under the spotlight ever since taking over from Erik ten Hag in late 2024, but his treatment of certain United players has become a big topic of discussion this season. Most notably, some of the talented youngsters who are coming through from the academy.

Ruben Amorim Finally Ready to Change Man Utd Formation After Carrington Update
Ruben Amorim has told players “a change is coming”, with Man Utd now training in a new system at Carrington ahead of AFCON absences, per The Athletic.
Carrington has often produced incredible players regularly, with the likes of Paul Scholes, George Best, Ryan Giggs, David Beckham and many more world-class names coming through the system. However, that legacy of always having a place open for an academy graduate has been less of a guarantee under Amorim's watch.

In particular, Amorim's use of Kobbie Mainoo has frustrated many supporters and even Man Utd legend Paul Scholes - who has urged the youngster to leave Old Trafford in search of regular game time.
The 40-year-old manager was asked if he rated the 20-year-old midfielder, and his response left many disappointed. He said: “Of course. But in the end it's going to be the training, the games. Of course, he's not playing so many games, but Kobbie has had opportunities, especially last year. Everyone has."
Not stopping there, Amorim highlighted the 'struggles' of another two young players who are still on United's books. Harry Amass - on loan at Sheffield Wednesday - and Chido Obi were name-dropped by the Red Devils' boss:
“Amass is now struggling in the Championship. Chido is not always a starter in under 21. All these guys played when a lot of people were saying sack the manager.
“So you can see I’m not worried. I just want to win and if he's the right guy, I will put him in."

First to respond on social media was Amass. The defender, who has played 15 times in the second-tier of English football this season, posted a picture on his Instagram story, in which he's holding a Player of the Month trophy for his current club.
Amass quickly deleted that post, which is widely speculated to be a dig at Amorim. Another man who has played for the first-team is Chido Obi, who also posted on Instagram before deleting shortly after. The young striker posted an image of himself celebrating a goal for the youth team.
