It’s another Monday night at the office for Manchester United as they host Bournemouth at Old Trafford tonight.
Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo start for the hosts this evening in their final game of the year before heading of for Africa Cup of Nations duty.
Benjamin Sesko is also back on the bench after his knee injury.
Ruben Amorim’s side have coped well on the road as of late, beating Crystal Palace before putting four past a hapless Wolves last week.
But it has been on home turf where costly points have been dropped. A miserable defeat to Everton and a uninspiring draw with West Ham United were hard to swallow – victories for both of those games would have had them within touching distance of Arsenal and Manchester City.

19 mins | More neat stuff from United – they work it into Cunha on the edge of the box and he has time to line his shot up. He should perhaps do better, bending it just wide.

2 mins | A bright start from United as Amad races inside at pace, trying to find Mbeumo but the ball is played just behind him. Instead of shooting, he instead looks for Fernandes who blasts one on goal. There are appeals for handball as his shot is charged down but nothing given.

Here come the teams
Tony Mogan
United were pretty meek against Everton and West Ham in front of their own fans in recent weeks. That has to change tonight.

Bournemouth stuttering
Tony Mogan
The Cherries have not won in their last six but have good memories at Old Trafford, picking up a 3-0 win last term.
‘Every season changes, but especially United’ Iraola said ahead of kick-off.
‘They are playing a lot better. Performing very well. They are on a great run and for us now it is a little bit the opposite. Everything is costing us a little bit more. We are coming from a good game against Chelsea, but we have to do it again and let’s see if we can do it.’

Amorim on whether his formation will change tonight
Tony Mogan
The United boss has been speaking to Sky Sports ahead of kick-off.
‘The formation is not the most important thing, it’s the way you set up your team to try to take advantage of the opponent that is important.
‘Of course, we need to think about the future and the future we need to have more variability in our game. We are going to lose two wingers, so we need to adapt to the players that we have, and we need to learn from some mistakes in the past.’

Amorim to switch from 3-4-3?
Tony Mogan
Speculation leading up to the match suggested Amorim has been weighing up veering away from his 3-4-3 formation. It doesn’t appear to be the case tonight, naming a side and personnel we have been used to seeing this season but we will learn more at kick-off.
The absences of Amad Diallo and Bryan Mbuemo after this game could force his hand a tad.

Mainoo on the bench
Tony Mogan
Well, that will come as no surprise. The midfielder’s wait for a first Premier League start of the season goes on and it’s fair to say United’s former stars have been lining up to slam Ruben Amorim for not turning to Mainoo more.
Paul Scholes: ‘I would have to advise him to go. If he rang me and said ‘I think Chelsea are in for me what do you think’, I’d say “all day long”.
Nicky Butt: ‘For his football career, he has to leave. He has lost 18 months of development.’
Rio Ferdinand: ‘He’s probably been there six months longer than he should’ve been. He should’ve just gone.’
