A brilliant start at Old Trafford saw Manchester United take the lead twice through Amad Diallo and Casemiro in the first half.
Bournemouth then flipped the script with a quickfire double from Evanilson and Marcus Tavernier, before United responded with a brilliant Bruno Fernandes free-kick and Matheus Cunha’s second goal for United.

Formation change
Throughout his first year in charge of United, Amorim has stubbornly stuck with his tactics and his 3-4-2-1 shape.
However, there were suggestions in the build-up to the match that Amorim has been training a 4-3-3 shape this week in anticipation of players leaving for AFCON.

The Red Devils played most of the match with a back four and two strikers, proving Amorim can adapt. Moving forward, fans can expect to see more of it.
Amad Diallo leaves on a high note
Fans were unsure heading into the match whether or not United would have Amad available for selection before he leaves to join Ivory Coast for AFCON.
Thankfully, the 23-year-old stayed put and started against Bournemouth. In a slightly more advanced role than usual, Amad was a danger down the right from the very first minute.
He marked his strong performance with his second goal of the season. He will be sorely missed over the next few weeks.
Antoine Semenyo impresses amid links
United have been linked with Antoine Semenyo ahead of 2026, and the Bournemouth forward had a chance to make his mark at Old Trafford.
Frustratingly, he scored for a third match in a row against the Red Devils to draw the visitors level in the first half.

Amorim called Semenyo ‘special’ before kick-off and the 25-year-old impressed at the Theatre of Dreams. However, he did narrowly avoid a red card after raising his hand against Diogo Dalot in a first-half incident.
Man United defend Old Trafford record
United have taken extreme pride in a home record that dates back to 1984. The Red Devils had not lost at home when leading at half-time in over 40 years.
That record was under huge threat when Bournemouth took a second-half lead, but United showed brilliant grit and resilience to come back.
Matheus Cunha responds to critics
Amorim explained that Cunha was ‘struggling’ with pressure at United after only scoring once in his first 12 matches.
But the Brazilian has had an immense impact in performances, and he doubled his goal tally by scoring United’s fourth against the Cherries.
It was a brilliant attacking display from United, but unfortunately, Bournemouth were able to go toe-to-toe and steal a point.
