Manchester United against Bournemouth will have been an incredible watch for neutrals, but for Ruben Amorim, it will feel like points dropped.
While the result wasn’t ideal and neither was conceding four goals, Manchester United certainly put on a show for fans against Bournemouth, scoring four in the process.
United and Bournemouth shared spoils at 4-4, and Ruben Amorim will feel his side should have won, although he can’t have complaints over the attacking performance.

The performance was ultimately tainted by Bournemouth’s six-minute resurgence at the start of the second half. Otherwise, we could be discussing another big win.
Most interestingly, the game finally saw Amorim show some tactical fluidity, changing things up with a clear back four at 3-2 down.

What Andoni Iraola has said about Manchester United performance against Bournemouth
United had some big winners against Bournemouth, but most were the result of Amorim’s tactical change, which allowed Amad in particular to push forward more.
However, while the shape had been modified, the principles remained the same. Speaking after the match in his post-match press conference, Andoni Iraola revealed that he thinks Amorim’s system is flexible.

Iraola saying that Amorim’s system is flexible is encouraging, as for too long this was not the case.
These comments will also please Amorim for another reason, as he agrees.
Ruben Amorim agrees that the system is not formation-based
Amorim will love to hear Iraola effectively backing him up in saying that United didn’t change the system, despite a different shape, as it justifies what he’s said all along.
During his post-game press conference, Amorim stated exactly this, picking out areas that need to improve regardless of shape.
“A lot of good things, but a lot of things to work on. We are not winning games sometimes in the details.
“It’s not about, because it’s a back 4, back 3, back 5. It’s the details that we need to work on to understand the momentum of the game.
“You need to be more clinical, because, again, today against a very good team, we create so many chances…”
