Gary Neville says four Man Utd players were 'brilliant' vs Bournemouth, Michael Carrick agrees

Manchester United will feel very frustrated after dropping two points against Bournemouth, but there were absolutely positives to take out of the draw.

For back-to-back games, Manchester United have impressively scored four goals, with the big issue coming at the other end of the pitch, unlike last season.

Despite dominating large periods, United could only manage a 4-4 draw with Bournemouth, much to the annoyance of Ruben Amorim.

This is because United could have easily put the game away in the first half, having come out of the blocks really well and having multiple chances to take a commanding lead.

Interestingly, this attacking display came as United made tactical tweaks to form more of a front four with Amad much higher than a wing-back.

Gary Neville and Michael Carrick agree on Manchester United point

United’s front four had Bournemouth chasing shadows for large periods of the game, and it impressed Gary Neville and Michael Carrick.

During the game, Neville was on commentary for Sky Sports. Neville heaped specific praise on Cunha, but also on the rest of the front four.

“The front four have been absolutely excellent for United, they really have. They’ve done everything you’d want to see.

“They have been fantastic. They have really pushed hard.”

Speaking on the Premier League Productions world feed for the game, Carrick also admitted to being excited by the front four.

“We spoke before the game about United’s front four and their flexibility and excitement. They were so, so good for much of the game. I’m quite excited by what I saw from United tonight. There are more than just shoots of positivity.”

Ineos accomplished the plan of summer 2025 transfer window

Last season, Manchester United’s attack was completely hopeless.

This prompted a complete rebuild in the summer of 2025, with United bringing in Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha.

It is a move that has absolutely worked for Ineos as United this season are a top-two offence in the league, scoring the most goals and underperforming on expected goals.

Ineos went all in on bolstering the attack, which saw the rest of the team neglected, and it shows.

United’s midfield and defence are now sticking out like a sore thumb for being the weak point.

So the plan for next season should be clear.
