Manchester United chiefs stand fully behind Ruben Amorim amid the club’s inconsistent performances this season, journalist David Ornstein has revealed.
The Old Trafford side produced an entertaining 4-4 draw against Bournemouth on Monday that saw both clubs lead and come from behind before settling for a point.
While Amorim experimented with his formation, opting for an unusual 4-2-4 in the second half, United failed to turn dominance into a win despite attempting 25 shots compared to the visitors’ 14.
The result cost United a top-five spot and meant the Red Devils have taken just two wins from their last seven Premier League matches, collecting 10 points during that run.
Man Utd ‘Fully Believe’ in Amorim
Ruben Amorim
Ornstein, speaking on Sky Sports, revealed that Man United chiefs ‘fully believe’ that Amorim can turn the season around amid their inconsistent Premier League form:
“Well, that they're not the force that he wants them to be, or that the Manchester United fans, or English football, quite frankly, expect of them.
“And I mean, the post-Alex Ferguson era has had a few highs, but it's mainly been lows, and many of them have come under Ruben Amorim.
“But the club clearly fully believe in him and are backing him to turn this around, slowly but surely, they're backing him in the transfer market as well. And of course, they're afflicted by injuries.”
While Amorim acknowledged it was a fun game for the neutrals, the United boss said he was ‘really disappointed’ after the 4-4 draw on Monday.
The Portuguese tactician admitted United could have put the game to bed in the first half, when they attempted 17 shots – most by any Premier League team in the first 45 minutes of a game this season.
United, who sit sixth in the table – level on points with fifth-placed Crystal Palace – next visit Aston Villa on Sunday.

Kobbie Mainoo’s brother, Jordan, has gone viral on social media in the aftermath of the 4-4 draw on Monday after he was spotted wearing a t-shirt with the words ‘Free Kobbie Mainoo’.
While the 20-year-old was introduced at the hour mark of the contest on Monday, Mainoo has yet to start a Premier League game for Man Utd this season and has been heavily linked with a departure in January.
Amorim recently admitted Mainoo is competing for a starting spot with captain Bruno Fernandes, who was United’s main creative force on Monday, scoring and assisting a goal.
