Ruben Amorim saw his Manchester United team dramatically throw away more points at Old Trafford and called on his players to “find ways of closing games.”
United put in one of their best attacking performances of the season and led THREE times in an eight-goal thriller but had to rely on two late saves from keeper Senne Lammens to hold on for a draw. And a bemused Amorim declared: “Crazy game. It's really disappointing. In the end, we deserved more. It was a fun game for everyone at home. It was a good performance but we need to be more clinical because we created so many chances.
“We need to find ways of closing the games because this happened many times. That's part of the process. We try to do things the best we can but in some moments it's not enough. Again, today against a very good team, we created many chances to win the game, and we should have won the three points. The result should be completely different.”
United have now taken only two points from their last three home matches. Casemiro gave them a half-time lead after Antoine Semenyo had cancelled out an Amad Diallo opener.
But goals from Evanilson and Marcus Tavernier in the opening seven minutes of the second half gave Bournemouth a lead, only for a Bruno Fernandes free-kick and a Matheus Cunha strike to put United back in front before Junior Kroupi’s final leveller.
Amorim said: “People, especially at Old Trafford, want to win but they want to be inspired to see a team play good football here. Today was inspiring but we need to be more clinical.”
Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola said: “The game was very difficult to explain because so much happened.
"I suppose it was entertaining for everyone. Two teams that attacked much better than they defended. But there were a lot of positives for us.”
