Amad Diallo opened the scoring after 13 minutes as he bundled home from close range. Antoine Semenyo got Bournemouth level on the 40-minute mark with a fierce finish in off the post but Casemiro’s header in the fourth minute of stoppage time put United back ahead before the break.
Bournemouth the stunned Old Trafford with two goals in the opening six minutes of the second half with Evanilson and Marcus Tavernier finding the net. Bruno Fernandes then scored a stunning free-kick on 77 minutes to put United back level and two minutes later the Red Devils were in front via Matheus Cunha’s goal. Their lead lasted just five minutes as Eli Junior Kroupi scored the final goal in a crazy game.
“It was a fun game for everyone at home. If you look at the game, you can think that we lost the two points in the second half. I think we lost the two points in the first half. We should have more goals,” said manager Ruben Amorim.
“We should be a different result at half-time. Similar to Nottingham Forest (2-2 draw), we suffer two goals really fast, but we managed to get back to take the advantage again. And then we need to close the game. Again, it was a fun game to watch. Of course, there is a feeling of scoring four goals and not winning the game.”
