Attempt to sign Manuel Ugarte–Manchester United midfielder could go in January

OGC Nice are ‘trying to sign’ Manchester United’s Manuel Ugarte on loan in the winter market.

That’s according to Jeunes Footeux, who say the Ligue 1 side have made an enquiry with Manchester United for the midfielder.

Manchester United co-owner INEOS also own Nice. Last season, the two clubs were in the Europa League and UEFA prevented them carrying out transfer business. That’s no longer the case for this season.

Jeunes Footeux claim the INEOS connection ‘facilitated the discussions’ between the Red Devils and Nice for Ugarte.

The Uruguay international has seen his playing time restricted and has started only two Premier League matches this season. Therefore, he’s ‘open to leaving’ Ruben Amorim’s side in January.

From a sporting perspective, it would make sense for Nice to sign the 24-year-old, who previously had a spell in France with Paris Saint-Germain.

Although the Manchester United player is open to move in January, Jeunes Footeux say he’s not particularly keen on joining Nice.

Either Ugarte will have to be convinced or find somewhere else if he wants a January exit.

It’s worth noting again that Kobbie Mainoo is being strongly linked with a transfer too. The Premier League club would surely be reluctant to part with two midfielders.
