Six players could miss Villa match this weekend
Manchester United will be without three players who started the Bournemouth draw when they face Aston Villa in the Premier League this weekend.
United were already without Noussair Mazraoui on Monday night due to his participation in AFCON, with Amad Diallo and Bryan Mbeumo both set to join their respective national teams this week. Mazraoui is in action when hosts Morocco begin the tournament against Comoros this weekend, while Amad and Mbeumo both play their first matches on Christmas Eve.
United were also handed a fresh setback in the Bournemouth draw when Casemiro picked up a cheap yellow card in the build-up to the third conceded goal. The Brazil international was rightfully booked when he fouled Marcus Tavernier on the edge of the box and will serve an automatic one-match ban for accumulation. A player receives a one-match ban for accumulating five yellow cards in their side's first 19 league matches. After 19 games, the ban threshold increases to 10 yellow cards.
Ruben Amorim also admitted his side could still be without Harry Maguire and Matthijs De Ligt when they face Aston Villa this weekend. The defensive duo both missed the Bournemouth draw and as he left his post-match press conference, Amorim stated he was not sure whether they would be back for the next match. Even if either of them are fit, it might be a risk to put them straight into the starting line up if they lack match fitness.
Unavailable due to AFCON: Mazraoui, Amad, Mbeumo. Suspended: Casemiro. Doubts: Maguire, De Ligt.
