Manchester United are reportedly eyeing a January move for Bournemouth midfielder Tyler Adams, who is said to be valued at around £40million. Since the summer, the Red Devils have been scouting various Premier League midfielders to bolster what's been identified as a vulnerable area in their line-up. Crystal Palace playmaker Adam Wharton and Brighton enforcer Carlos Baleba have already been linked, but their substantial valuations could present obstacles.
Adams, therefore, may emerge as a more viable option for the club as the January transfer window approaches. According to the Daily Mail, the 26-year-old has been discussed amongst United's potential midfield acquisitions for either January or the following summer. He would seemingly jump at the chance to represent United, having previously expressed his fondness for playing at Old Trafford.
He said: "It's just a special occasion. This is what you grow up watching, whether you're a fan or not.
"A fan of Manchester United walking into Old Trafford will change your perspective on everything. I played against Manchester United at Old Trafford during Covid with RB Leipzig.
"That was the first time I walked into Old Trafford and I was like, my dream is really to play in the Premier League because this is what it's about right here.
"Now being able to go back and play there multiple times and have good results, especially makes it a little bit better. So yeah, I always get excited to play against United."
Adams' potential arrival at the Reds could see academy graduate Kobbie Mainoo edged closer towards the exit door.
The 20-year-old has found opportunities limited under the Portuguese manager this season and is yet to make a single Premier League start.
United boss Ruben Amorim has encouraged Mainoo to approach him directly if he wishes to depart in January.
"The team comes first and if Kobbie comes to me and talks to me, I will talk to him," he said.
"I'm not going to say what I'm going to say to Kobbie but I will be really pleased if Kobbie comes to talk to me about that. I just want my players happy and I understand that every individual has their goals.
"The frustration doesn't help anybody. But again, the focus is on this game and we will see if that happens.
"I had some conversations with him, especially last year, and with other players but about that subject, no. I didn't speak with him."
