The transfer window throws curveballs on the quietest of days and an ex-Man Utd player will love one as he is set to link up with Lionel Messi.
Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami are at a high right now after winning the MLS Cup, beating Thomas Muller’s Vancouver Whitecaps in the finals.
However, a changing of the guard is set to begin in Miami, as Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba are set to retire, with doubts over Luis Suarez as well.
Therefore, the next crop of established players is needed to help Messi in Miami, and as per Fabrizio Romano, a former Man Utd player has been identified to fill that role.

Lionel Messi’s newest teammate is Sergio Reguilon
Sergio Reguilon had a short but eventful time at Old Trafford after he was drafted in as an emergency loan signing on deadline day of 2023 summer transfer window.
The left-back position was demolished by injuries at the time, and unfortunately for Reguilon, he’s become (in)famous for playing left-back at United when Alvaro Carreras was itching for an opportunity.
Reguilon spent six months at Man Utd, with the club sending him back to Tottenham despite Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia not being fit.

Reguilon ended up being a serviceable, if a bit rash, loan signing, playing 655 minutes across all competitions and getting booked four times.
He got injured as well, so he ended up becoming a part of the injury crisis he was signed to alleviate.
Fabrizio Romano now reports that he’s set to join Inter Miami on a free transfer, having been without a club after being released by Spurs last summer.
Romano says he had “several proposals”, but playing with Messi in Miami was obviously an enticing factor that swung the deal in their favour.
Reguilon became a symbol of Man Utd’s scattergun recruitment
Through no fault of his own, Reguilon has ended up becoming a symbol of United’s scattergun recruitment under Erik ten Hag.

The focus always remained on sticking plasters on leaks until another leak opened elsewhere, keeping the club in forever firefighting mode.
Reguilon stands alongside the likes of Wout Weghorst, Marcel Sabitzer, and Odion Ighalo, to name a few, in the list of emergency signings with no long-term vision.
To make matters worse, he was signed because Alvaro Carreras was deemed not ready by Ten Hag, a player who is now the first name on the teamsheet for Real Madrid.
Still just 29, Reguilon will hope to win some trophies in the USA playing alongside the greatest of all time.
