Simon Jordan slams Kobbie Mainoo for'idiot brother'stunt, hits out at Rio Ferdinand and Paul Scholes

Manchester United and Bournemouth played out the season’s most enthralling game to date on Monday night, but drama off the pitch clouded the night.

One normal day will be all Manchester United fans want, as recently, there has been one thing after another.

From Ruben Amorim’s damning academy comments to Bruno Fernandes’ bombshell interview, and on Monday night in the stands at Old Trafford, there was more drama.

During the 4-4 draw on Monday, Kobbie Mainoo’s brother wore a ‘Free Kobbie Mainoo’ top, which was a ridiculous stunt that fans are furious with, slamming the former Love Island contestant Jordan Mainoo-Hames for attention seeking.

What do you think of Kobbie Mainoo’s brother wearing a ‘Free Kobbie Mainoo’ t-shirt at Old Trafford?

This is NOT going to help Kobbie Mainoo!

This happened while Mainoo put in a stellar display for United in the second half, and Tuesday has seen a reaction to this.

Simon Jordan comments on the Kobbie Mainoo situation

This was an idiotic decision from Mainoo’s brother, who hasn’t done his younger sibling any favours and risked bringing real toxicity toward the 20-year-old.

Reacting to this on talkSPORT, Simon Jordan has spoken, slamming Mainoo for allowing this to happen and blaming the culture at United for it.

“Culturally, if United aren’t in the best position to demand a certain conduct from players who think they’re entitled to [play], then you’ll start to see people behave in a slightly different way than you would expect them to when playing for such a significant football club such as United.

“That’s part of the deterioration of the brand and ultimately the club’s culture when you’ve young players that have an expectation that they should be in the Man United team and so if they don’t they get their idiot brother to stand inside the stands wearing a t-shirt because he’s not being picked for a team, not because there is any bias against them.”

Continuing, Jordan then went on to Rio Ferdinand and Paul Scholes’ comments on Mainoo, pointing out Amorim probably has a good reason not to use the midfielder.

“Irrespective of those well-heeled managers in Rio Ferdinand, Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt that have managed at the highest level and know what it’s like to manage a team,

“I would imagine there’s a distinct possibility that Amorim is not picking him for a very good reason right, and that reason may well be in the clue, in the briefing, which is what they do on the training field will dictate to me [Amorim].”

Kobbie Mainoo is now at a Manchester United crossroads

The performance Mainoo put in against Bournemouth proved he still has more than enough quality to play for United, and with Casemiro suspended against Aston Villa, he might be in line to start.

However, this situation will cast a shadow over Mainoo, unless he can make the correct decisions this week to show Amorim that he can trust him.

Alejandro Garnacho’s toxic situation was worsened by his brother, but Mainoo can avoid this by talking to Amorim and getting his head down instead of leaning into the tomfoolery.

Mainoo should be shutting down his brother and making sure this doesn’t happen again. United must also support Mainoo in making sure he isn’t misled by his brother.

This will either strengthen United and Mainoo’s relationship or worsen it.
