Everton are open to signing Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo on loan during the January transfer window, Ben Jacobs has confirmed in his GIVEMESPORT newsletter.
The Toffees could be in the market for a new midfielder when the winter window commences, with recent injuries highlighting their lack of depth. Idrissa Gueye is jetting off to the African Cup of Nations, while he's also in the latter stages of his career. Tim Iroegbunam and Merlin Rohl are still learning the ropes of the Premier League, while Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who has also played deeper, is often preferred higher up the pitch by David Moyes.
The Scottish manager might also be looking for a different profile of midfielder than his current options. Rohl is out injured, Gueye is on international duty, meaning a temporary loan deal could be the smart option.
Everton Open to Kobbie Mainoo Loan

Writing in his GIVEMESPORT newsletter, Jacobs has confirmed that Mainoo, described as 'unbelievable' by Gary Neville, could ask to leave again in January, just like he did in the summer, as he hopes to make Thomas Tuchel's England squad for the World Cup in 2026. Everton are one of the clubs who are open to signing the England international on loan, but 'sources suggest' that United would prefer to send him abroad if he were to leave temporarily.
"West Ham and Everton are both open to a loan deal for the 20-year-old under the right circumstances, but sources suggest United would ideally prefer to do a deal with a foreign club if a temporary exit is sanctioned."
Mainoo Would Offer Something Different to Everton

Mainoo could offer Everton something that they lack in the middle of the park. They have Rohl who likes to carry the ball, Garner who likes to keep it simple and control possession from deep, and Gueye who puts himself about, trying to break up play. Mainoo would offer more of a mix of Rohl and Garner, but he will also add an element of progression from deep.
Mainoo likes to receive the ball in tighter areas, playing quick, one and two-touch passes to evade the opposition press. The United midfielder is also a strong ball carrier, and adding his technical ability to Everton's midfield could be hugely beneficial to Moyes' side.
