DJORDJE Petrovic knew he should have done better with Manchester United’s second goal at Old Trafford on Monday night, Andoni Iraola said.

The Serbian was beaten by a Casemiro header at his near post, after the veteran United midfielder peeled away from his marker at a corner and headed towards goal.

Iraola defended his keeper, though, and said the play happened very quickly.

Asked if Petrovic felt he should have done better to prevent the goal, Iraola told the Daily Echo: “Yes, I think so. We were talking to him and probably he feels he could.

“But this is a difficult one now you see like in slow motion and he's there and could save it, yes, but everything happens very quickly and you know, the reaction I think is like the big chance we had from Brooksy, the header, I think Lammens, he puts the leg straight away is a reflex thing.

“He saves it. But sometimes it's a matter of nothing.”
