Surprise Man Utd man now ‘generating significant interest’ with United preparing to ‘cut their…

Manuel Ugarte is said to be ‘generating significant interest’ from Turkey heading into the winter window, and Manchester United aren’t closed off to a premature sale.

In fact, MailSport claims the Red Devils would be willing to ‘cut their losses’ if it looks as though they can earn a sizeable fee from the midfielder’s departure – ideally around the region of the £50.5 million they paid for him.

Among Ugarte’s admirers is OGC Nice, which, if a deal materialised, would see United do business with another INEOS-owned club for the first time since Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s stake was ratified last February.

However, the player himself is ‘reluctant’ to make the switch to the 13th-placed Ligue 1 outfit.

Ugarte has only been on United’s books for 16 months following his Paris Saint-Germain departure last summer, but has fallen in the pecking order since 2025/2026 got underway.

He has started twice more than his counterpart Kobbie Mainoo this campaign, although his last start came all the way back on September 27. Additionally, the Uruguayan has been an unused substitute for five of the last seven games.

When Ruben Amorim succeeded Erik ten Hag last November, fans anticipated Ugarte would play a major role, given that he had worked with the coach at Sporting Lisbon.

Yet, he has actually played himself out of Amorim’s plans by failing to meet the standard required of him almost every time he’s featured.

Should United open the door to the 24-year-old’s departure in January, they will almost certainly pursue a direct replacement, especially if Mainoo also leaves on loan until the end of the season.
