Manchester United are seriously considering a mid-season swoop for Antoine Semenyo when his release clause becomes active.
When the New Year rolls around, clubs interested in the Bournemouth talisman will have until a certain date in January to activate his £60 million clause.
If they leave it too late to ignite their pursuit and the Cherries don’t have ample time to sign a replacement, Semenyo’s suitors will have to wait until the summer. By then, however, his price will have dropped to £50m.

Alas, United are firmly among the mix of sides targeting the 25-year-old in the build-up to the window opening, along with rivals Manchester City, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.
MailSport’s report on the matter states: “When club sources talk about fast-tracking a transfer to sign a target six months early, Semenyo falls into that category (for United).”

Back before the season began, the Red Devils held talks with Semenyo over a potential switch from the Vitality Stadium to Old Trafford, with Manchester Evening News even claiming that Ruben Amorim met with the attacker one-on-one to gauge where his head was at.
Ultimately, Semenyo opted to commit his future to Bournemouth by signing a five-year extension on July 1, although it looks as though he only did so to ensure he could oversee a relatively seamless departure when the time came for him to embark on a new venture.

The Bristol City graduate was singled out by Amorim ahead of Bournemouth’s trip to M16 on Monday night, being hailed as ‘special’ by the United boss.
Semenyo would then go on to put an end to his seven-game goalless streak by equalising in the first half with a stellar finish past Senne Lammens.
