Leeds United’s aim in January is to bring in an attacking player that can create and play in several different positions, judging by the players recently linked with a move to Elland Road.
Chelsea duo Tyrique George and Raheem Sterling can play on both flanks and have been linked with Leeds, while Leeds have made an enquiry for Manchester United’s fringe player Joshua Zirkzee.

It all comes after Leeds failed to do a deal for Harry Wilson in the summer, the perfect playmaker for this Leeds side. Able to play in many positions, and now one of the most in-form Premier League players.
Come January then, if Leeds are to sign anyone, it will be an attacking midfielder or a playmaker. Well, Chris Wilder may have just finally opened the door for Leeds United to sign his star player, Gus Hamer.

Chris Wilder opens door for Gus Hamer exit ahead of January
Leeds have long been keen on doing a deal for Hamer, who pipped Dan James to the Championship Player of the Season trophy last season. This time around, Hamer has struggled to reach his best form.
Patrick Bamford’s new teammate, Hamer will enter the final 18 months of his contract and while Wilder would like to keep Hamer, he admitted to the Sheffield Star that Hamer could leave if the price is right.
“I don’t know what’s going to happen in January. I’d like to keep all the players that we’ve talked about, and get to a situation where, at the end of the season, we are just adding sort of two or three,” he said.

“Keeping our best players. But if that time comes, if somebody comes in with an offer that we can’t refuse, we’ve got to put that to the board and see where we are from that,” Wilder added, on Hamer and others.

Leeds will be on red alert as Underwood craves creativity
It is no secret that Leeds want a playmaker and it is even less of a secret that the club have wanted to sign Hamer, ever since Farke was appointed manager. In his first summer, Leeds made a £13m bid for Hamer.
Leeds have been consistently linked with Hamer and even in the window just gone, there was talk that Leeds would make a deadline-day move having missed out on Harry Wilson, who remained at Fulham.
Hamer is edging towards the exit door at Bramall Lane, now only really a rotational player under Wilder. With his contract winding down, January probably represents the last chance to get full price for Hamer.
Whether Leeds actually want to sign the Brazil-born star is unclear. But Leeds are long-term admirers and will surely be on red alert to Hamer’s situation given Underwood and Leeds want to add some creativity.
