Kobbie Mainoo sends cryptic message following Manchester United draw and controversial moment

Kobbie Mainoo has posted a cryptic Instagram message following Manchester United’s 4-4 draw with AFC Bournemouth.

Manchester United were held to a draw on Monday night as they hosted AFC Bournemouth in one of the most thrilling encounters of the Premier League season.

The Reds drew 4-4 in the blockbuster affair, which has left them sixth in the table ahead of their upcoming encounter with the high-flying Aston Villa.

Despite scoring on the stroke of half-time, United midfielder Casemiro picked up his fifth yellow card of the campaign, which means he is suspended for Ruben Amorim’s side’s trip to Villa Park.

The Brazilian was substituted for Kobbie Mainoo at the 61st minute, who has been restricted to very few minutes so far in the league this season.

Mainoo’s message

Following the chaotic draw, Mainoo took to Instagram to post a rather cryptic message, which many United fans have started to read into.

As reported by Manchester Evening News, Mainoo posted a photo of himself alongside fellow substitute Joshua Zirkzee, who has been rumoured with a January exit from Old Trafford, similarly to the Englishman.

The post was not captioned, but despite this, many are reading into this as a hint of Mainoo wanting an exit when the January window arrives.

United’s talented midfielder has yet to start a single league fixture this season, and has only been allowed 302 minutes on the pitch for the Reds.

Mainoo controversy growing

Although Mainoo has remained a model professional despite his lack of minutes, it appears as if both he and his family are growing impatient with the 20-year-old’s situation.

If Mainoo’s post is to suggest a January exit, then this could be only the beginning of yet another saga revolving around United players fighting back against the manager, similarly to Alejandro Garnacho last season.

The Englishman’s half-brother, Jordan Mainoo-Hames, appeared at Old Trafford wearing a ‘Free Kobbie Mainoo’ T-shirt, which has predictably picked up a lot of social media attention.

Given Casemiro’s suspension, Mainoo could now be given his chance in the starting XI, although, regardless of this, the youngster’s unrest will be one to watch out for ahead of the winter transfer window.
