Manchester United have stepped up their pursuit of Trabzonspor midfielder Christ Inao Oulai, with Manchester City also lurking.
United interest in Oulai
Since Sir Jim Ratcliffe assumed operational control of United last year, the club’s transfer policy has shifted from primarily signing already-established superstars to snapping up relatively unknown gems that can be nurtured to potentially become world-class.
Leny Yoro, Ayden Heaven, Chido Obi, Diego Leon, Sekou Kone and Patrick Dorgu are some of the youngsters United have brought in over the past few months.
A report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that United have set their sights on Oulai, who has enjoyed a drastic rise at Trabzonspor since joining the side from SC Bastia over the summer.
A dynamic midfielder, Oulai has caught the eye with his excellent all-around game. Brilliant at winning back possession, he excels at launching quick counters with precise passes and boasts impressive dribbling ability and line-breaking vision.
The 19-year-old has turned out nine times in the Super Lig this season, contributing two goals and three assists.

It was indicated that Bayern Munich and Manchester City are also keeping tabs on Oulai.
Now, TEAMtalk reveal that United have held discussions with the representatives of Oulai. Ruben Amorim has approved a swoop for the teenager but Pep Guardiola’s side are leading the pack.
Oulai transfer latest
According to TEAMtalk, “Sources indicate the Red Devils have renewed contacts with the player’s representatives, as Ruben Amorim has personally endorsed the pursuit.”
“The United manager sees Oulai’s athleticism, vision and box-to-box energy as perfectly suited to his system, viewing him as a key long-term investment to bolster the midfield engine room.”
“His rapid adaptation has seen his market value soar to around €9m (£7.9m / $10.6m), though Trabzonspor are holding firm on a valuation exceeding €40m (£35.1m / $47m).”
City view Oulai as the successor to Rodri’s throne at the Etihad, while Bayern think he is an ideal fit to replace some of their more experienced midfielders.
In their bid to overhaul the midfield, United consider Oulai as a strong candidate to provide an immediate impact.
TEAMtalk note that a January swoop is unlikely but United are laying the foundations for a more concrete push during the summer transfer window.
